about

an existential instrumental track about the astounding reality of being here right now and what many people often choose to do with that extraordinary gift, failing in many ways to deeply realize the precious opportunity it affords them. that is typically less true of artists and scientists, and anybody else who can see with open eyes

After playing my synths a lot in recent songs, this was a precious opportunity itself to get back into my guitar a bit, with three long takes mixed together, which I could have rerecorded, but I decided it best to keep them as is warts and all - but yes, of course the percussion and one keyboard sound are all from the synths.

The song image is Jesters Playing "Cochonnet" by Spanish painter Eduardo Zamacois y Zabala, 1868.

lyrics

only a few words:
"Don't throw each moment away
Clouds glow from purple to gray"

and then sounds of video games, televangelists, auctioning of animals, gambling, social media sounds, machine gun, motorbike, anti-vaxxer, applause tracks.

also, the title of the track was recorded once and played back throughout the song on a sampler.
