about

progress comes from the brains and brawn of those who innovate for those with the money to see if their ideas will sell. some great things indisputably come from this, but at the cost of us being inundated with mostly rubbish and at the expense of billions of lives each trying to find someone who will hire them. economic growth is mathematically impossible on a planet with limited resources. so we all tear our hair out asking ourselves if this is the most sensible way to innovate or whether we are indeed living in a Lewis Carroll universe?

lyrics

Trickle-Down Crumbs by Puppeteer C)2023

Money and power call the tune
AI and spaceships to the moon
While the fabric of life comes apart
And Russian bullies bulldoze homes and hearts

She works two jobs to feed three mouths
She is the mistress of the house
But she is rarely ever home
Her boss spends her surplus on a new Ferrari with chrome

And greed gives us trickle-down crumbs
Should we be grateful to be under their thumbs?
And when we try to criticize
We're told to be more humble in God's eyes

Young Andre goes down tungsten mine
So you can buy the latest phone of the line
And almost everyone can feel
What it's like to make all day what others steal

'Cause greed gives us trickle-down crumbs
Should we be grateful to be under their thumbs?
And when we try to criticize
Panglosses like Pinker say we catastrophize

danelectro guitar sings here a bit

And greed gives us trickle-down crumbs
Should we be grateful to be under their thumbs
And leaders smile at us and wave
Because they know we are their lackeys to the grave

Is my brain stupid as a mule
Asking if being those sucker tools
Is the only way that we progress?
I don't know the answer, but hope not is my best guess

Yes greed gives us trickle-down crumbs
Should we be grateful to be under their thumbs?
And when we try to criticize
We're told to be more humble in God's eyes
