songs of love and earth 01 (instrumental)

this is the only instrumental so far for the album Songs of Love and Earth, so I rather unimaginatively named it Songs of Love and Earth 01.

Instruments used are the bassoon (loudest, playing the main melody), single violin, three pizzicato violins, a strings ensemble made of violin and viola, double bass, and a piano. These are not synthesized sounds. I am using a sampler here to play the real sampled notes from those instruments played within their normal range. Of course, that does not mean I was aware of the players' normal fingering (I was not) or whether I wrote notes impossible for real humans to play, but that's another story.

image for this piece is Adriaen Brouwer's painting "Innkeeper Singing," believed according to one art historian to have been painted in 1632. Funny isn't it that his name means Brewer in Dutch and here he is painting a Brewer! Could our names influence our interests?
