As real as the dreamers by Puppeteer c)2023

Blue dragonflies were fluttering overhead
We were too tired to go wandering off to bed
We tried to steal a forgotten hour of the day
From the place where the dark starts to tuck the world away
We almost worried we hadn't been there and gone
As if an act of defiance toward those who believed we'd remain alone

We lost precious time but we didn't care
We talked up a storm that startled the air
Have you been so in love that you don't want the night to end?
Have you been scared to find out if you made or lost a friend?
I fear I won't make it past this night at all
I want to bathe forever in this soft light with you in case we fall

My feelings are painters who color what I see
In violent yellows and greens they paint a need unseen
I don't know how much is real, how much a dream

Maybe our dreams are as real, as real as the dreamers
Maybe reality becomes the way you want it to be

And sometimes when you're with me, you're far away
And sometimes when we're apart, you feel as real as day
Bodies who yearn, who burn, pledge and betray

Maybe our dreams are as real, as real as the dreamers
Maybe the truth is a question of what we seek and feel

Take what you need before you're gone
Can we get inside the ones we love
Will we always remain on the surfaces
Maybe we only get so far
Never beyond the skin
Two acrobats swinging in life's circuses

My love, in my dreams we stroll across the Bridge of Sighs
And kiss on San Marco's Square beneath the graying skies
I dreamt you were here with me, here with me

Maybe our dreams are as real, as real as the dreamers
Maybe the truth is a question of what we seek and feel

Blue dragonflies were fluttering overhead
We were too tired to go wandering off to bed
We tried to steal a forgotten hour of the day
From the place where the dark starts to tuck the world away
